Finding Demolition Contractors on the Gold Coast
Search for demolition companies on the Gold Coast and you will find everything from one-machine operators to large civil firms. Any of them may suit your job, or none of them. The trick is matching the contractor to the job. Here is how to compare them, and how we can help you skip the ring-around.
How GC Demolition works
We are a referral service, not a demolition company. You tell us about the job, and we pass the details to an independent contractor who works in your part of the Gold Coast. They contact you, inspect the site and give you their own quote. There is no obligation to go ahead, and your agreement is directly with them.
What to check before you sign
Whoever you end up using, including anyone we refer you to, please check these for yourself:
- QBCC licence. Ask for the licence number and look it up on the Queensland Building and Construction Commission register. Confirm the class covers the work and the name matches the quote.
- Asbestos licence. If asbestos is involved, confirm who is removing it and which class of licence they hold.
- Insurance. Ask for current certificates of currency, and read the date on them.
- Written scope. A one-line price is not enough. It should say what comes down, what stays and how the site will be left.
- Exclusions. Look for what is not included, such as approvals, asbestos, disconnections, tree removal and rock.
How to compare quotes fairly
The lowest number often has the shortest list of inclusions. Line your quotes up side by side and ask these questions:
- Is the slab or are the footings included?
- Who pays the tip fees?
- Who arranges and pays for the approval?
- What happens if something unexpected is found underground?
- When is payment due, and what triggers it?
Warning signs
Be careful of anyone who asks for a big payment up front, will not put the price in writing, says asbestos does not matter or says no approval is needed without explaining why. A good contractor will not mind your questions.
Ready to start?
Send us the address and a short description of the job. If you have photos, plans or an asbestos report, you can mention those too, and it will help the contractor give you a clearer answer.
